Dr. Ailona Nissan has called Hamilton home for over 15 years. She began her post secondary studies at McMaster University where she gained her Honours Bachelor of Science degree in 2021.
She obtained her Doctor of Optometry degree soon after from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science in 2025. She is excited to return to Hamilton to care for her community.
During her training, Dr. Nissan completed clinical rotations in both urban and rural settings across Canada, where she gained valuable experience managing a wide range of ocular conditions alongside seasoned optometrists.
She also had the opportunity to observe cataract surgeries, further expanding her clinical insight. Dr. Nissan enjoys providing comprehensive primary eye care, with particular interests in pediatric optometry and ocular disease management.
She performs routine eye examinations and is especially passionate about proactive care and preventive eye health. She is fluent in English, and speaks French and Assyrian as well.
Dr. Nissan is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys traveling, reading, and staying active.
